Children & Young People (8-18)

Counselling for children and young people, shaped around their age, needs and way of communicating. I understand children are not small adults. Through creativity and play, we build trust that I value their concerns which may include disabilities, poor self-worth, school stress, friendships, bereavement, family change, anxiety, low mood.

Adult Counselling

I know that life does not always unfold in the way we would ask it to. I offer a thoughtful, confidential space to consider how we think about the challenges we face, and how we would like to meet them. You may be dealing with anxiety, low mood, relationship difficulties, life changes, stress, trauma, grief, or simply a sense that life is not what it could be. We will work together in a way that is kind, respectful, and determined by you, at a pace that feels manageable and safe.

People with Learning Disabilities

A central part of my work is my commitment to people with learning disabilities and to ensuring they are not treated as an afterthought within therapeutic spaces. Too often, people with learning disabilities are spoken about, assessed, managed or underestimated, while their emotional lives are insufficiently recognised. I hold a different view. I believe people with learning disabilities deserve counselling that is serious, respectful, adaptable and shows genuine interest in their inner world.

Neuro-affirming Support

I offer affirming counselling for neurodivergent people. You may have a diagnosis, be exploring the possibility, or simply know that you experience the world differently. I know there are added pressures that affect neurodivergent LGBQ+ and transgender people. I believe nobody should have to reshape themselves in order to be understood.

  • Experience working with neurodivergent clients
  • Tools that work with you, not against you
  • Sensory-aware environment
  • Understanding of masking, burnout, minority stress

Parents and Carers

I work with all parents, especially parents or family members who find themselves being carers. Being a parent or a carer sometimes means making space for anxiety, exhaustion, relentless responsibility, identity loss, loneliness, relationship stress or the complex emotional reality of supporting someone else whilst trying to remain steady yourself.

  • Space to prioritise your own wellbeing
  • Practical coping strategies
  • Understanding of carer fatigue
  • Limited spaces available at a reduced rate with Carers Allowance

Therapeutic Approaches and Reasonable Adjustments

Words are not always enough, and they do not have to be. Therapy may include art, storytelling, play, games or sand play. Creativity is found in the relationship itself, working in a way that is meaningful to you. I will actively accommodate our environment and session length to support you, whenever I am able. I invite you to be clear with me about what is comfortable for you. I do not expect eye contact. I am comfortable with silence, you can take the time you need.

  • Compassion and creativity
  • Acceptance and values
  • Self and sensory awareness
  • No artistic ability needed to be creative
